A/Prof Ilan Rauchberger

A/Prof Rauchberger is a Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive expertise in general adult psychiatry. He has a special clinical interest in depression, anxiety, bipolar and adjustment disorders. He also has an interest in medico-legal work and provides independent medico-legal assessments. 

A/Prof Ilan Rauchberger obtained his medical degree from Monash University and undertook psychiatry training at Alfred Hospital. He gained his fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2009, and has then worked in a combination of both public and private psychiatric practice.

He has been the Head of Acute Psychiatry at the Alfred Hospital and Director of the Alfred Psychiatric Intensive Care State-wide Services. He has been a committee member or chaired a number committees in his career including the Psychiatry Quality Committee, Restrictive Intervention Committee, High Risk Panel and Psychiatry Executive Committee at the Alfred Hospital.  

A/Professor Rauchberger is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Swinburne University and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer (Practice) at Monash University. He has provided clinical supervision, teaching and mentoring to numerous psychiatrists, training psychiatrists and medical students over the years.  

A/Prof Rauchberger is an experienced medico-legal examiner and holds accreditation as a permanent impairment assessor. He conducts independent medico-legal assessments in cases of personal injury, negligence, insurance matters, impairment assessment, and fitness for duty.

A/Professor Rauchberger is a keen sportsman, especially basketball and has even represented Australia and Victoria in graded basketball competitions. In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies and spending time with his family and friends.
